Roadside assault follows a verbal altercation, Airlie Beach

A 22-year-old male tourist has allegedly been knocked unconscious after an assault on Airlie Esplanade between Main Street and Coconut Grove at 11:30pm on September 12.

It’s alleged that the man had been walking with friends on the footpath when he became involved in a short verbal altercation with the occupant of a light coloured hatchback which travelled past. The hatchback has stopped and it’s further alleged that an occupant has stepped out of the car and assaulted the victim causing an injury to his lip and knocking him unconscious.

The alleged offender has then returned to the hatchback which then quickly drove from the area.
