Road safety a major focus within the Gayndah Division

Over recent months the community of the North Burnett has tragically seen that we are not immune to suffering significant road trauma within the community.

Gayndah Division has also seen a significant number of drivers being under the influence of drugs in recent months.

Officer in Charge of Gayndah Station, Sergeant Joshua Ryan urges drivers to take more care on our roads.

“We are hoping that our road users start to understand the importance of using our road network in a safe manner and remind our road users, of all ages and demographics, the importance of adhering to the Fatal Five,” Sergeant Ryan said.

“The most important message that we as a community and as individuals can send is ‘You have the power to make our roads safer’.

“I encourage and implore all our drivers on the road to make a deliberate action to ensure they are using the road in a safe, diligent and lawful manner.”

The increase in police presence in the Gayndah division will continue throughout the week, with a strong focus on road safety.

While your driving or riding on local roads remember the Fatal Five:

  • Speeding
  • Driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs
  • Fatigue
  • Distraction
  • Not wearing seatbelts

Drive safely – for you, your loved ones and your fellow road users.
