Residents of a home in Martin Street were fortunate not to be woken from their sleep when a burglar broke in and stole from them.
Between 2:08am and 6am on September 12, entry was gained into the home apparently through a closed back door which was not locked. The kitchen was then searched and the burglar has allegedly stolen a GoPro camera, over $100 in cash and a Samsung S8 Plus (along with charger) was stolen.
This crook drew no attention to himself while present, so we unfortunately have no description to share with you.
If anyone has information about this particular matter that they wish to share with police, the police report number to refer to is QP1701599296.
There isn’t an officer in the Mackay Police District who gets any joy from seeing a burglar succeed in their endeavours. We encourage you to check your home security each night. Most burglars are not targeting a specific address in a certain street – they are simply looking for a soft target.
